Today we experienced two amazing cities and all the countryland in between them. Leaving Memphis, we drove through Arkansas and Missouri until St. Louis. We saw many more farms and met nice people with heavy accents! In a few places, gas was only $3.19.
St. Louis was a perfect place to have lunch in the park, under the Arch and beside the Mississippi River. The streets were actually flooded from heavy rains last week. It’s hard to capture the Arch in a picture because it is just so big! It is known as the “Gateway to the West”, which is where we are eventually heading of course!
Our next stop was Chicago and I wasn’t sure what to expect. But I can definitely say that it blew me away (no pun intended, as it is called the Windy City for a reason). I just loved it so much! The skyline was incredible including the tallest building in America, the Sears/Willis Tower. There was so much art to see in Millenium Park, like”the Bean” and Crown Fountain. We also saw the Buckingham Fountain and walked along Lake Michigan before settling in for the night northwest of the city.
